So we have a lot to catch up on. We have been on 3 vacations in the last month. Its been a whirlwind. I still can't believe its October. I keep thinking where did September go!?!?......Oh yeah....we were pretty much gone the whole month. Here is a recap of what we have been up to.(Disclamer: You might want to grab a drink and some popcorn...this is a LONG one.....with lots of pictures!!! Ok....I warned you..continue at your own risk!)
We started off our trips with Erics family in St.George for the annual family trip. Much fun was had. Thanks mom and dad Maz for all the planning. We had a great time. (I can't find my pictures.....Im pretty sure we have them saved on a file somewhere, but we had camara issues and ended having to buy a new camara....not a good way to start off a trip.)
Then it was off to California for Kate's first visit to DISNEYLAND!!
My cousin was very generous and let us stay at their condo. Thanks Lissi and Aaron!!! It was perfect....and we were able to meet their sweet new baby Lucas. He is adorable. Its hard to remember Kate being that little. It goes too fast!
We spent a beautiful day at Huntington beach. The weather was absolutely perfect! Kate loved the beach but was very hesitant about the ocean. She did't like the waves at first....then decided they were o.k. if you were holding her hand. She really loved running on the beach and drawing in the sand. But her favorite thing at the beach was walking along the pier and wathcing the people fishing. She learned a new word that day. "Bucket". She wanted to visit every person fishing to see their "pish" in the "bucket". She was so excited everytime see peeked in a new bucket and found fish.
Then our Disneyland adventure began. My cousin Mishay and her family met up with us to join in the adventure. We spent three full (and exhausting) days at Disneyland. Yes...3 days back to back. We felt like we had run a marathon by the 3rd day. Kate loved it and became a new fan of Mikey and Minnie. She was terrified of them in person...but was in love and blowing them kisses if they were far enough away. He favorite rides were Dumbo (her very favorite), the carosel, small world, Pirates of the Carribean, and the tram that took us from the parking lot to the park enterance (She would have been just as happy riding that thing back and forth all day.....guess we could have saved a lot of money...haha). My mom flew to Cali to go to Disneyland with us. For the first 2 days, Kate wanted nothing to do with us...and ONLY wanted "Nanny". I guess grandmas are just way cooler than moms. Thanks mom. You were a trooper! We all loved having you there! Kate also had fun playing with her cousins Kali and Leiya. Kate and Leiya just wanted to walk (or run) around holding hands. So precious!
Kate also picked up a thing or two from the Pirates.....
With a quick stop to see my Dad on our way home.....we had finally completed our two week adventure.
But......little did we know a new adventure was waiting just around the corner. After being home for 4 days my sister-in-law called to see if Kate and I would be interested in a last minute trip to visit her in Florida. Since Kate is still free to fly...we just couldn't resist. So a day later...Kate and I hopped on a plane to Florida. I was pretty nervous to travel alone with Kate (full day...2 flights each way) But to my wonderful surprise.....Kate was an awesome traveler! For all 4 flights (2 there, 2 back) she colored (her new favorite hobby)...for an hour straight and then either slept the rest of the flight or was content resting on my lap or watching a movie. I was soooo relieved. No one wants to be the parent with the screaming child on an airplane. I did look like a circus show walking through the airport though. I had Kate in her stroller, the carseat upside down over the handles, my backpack and purse....and my suitcase (at least I checked that one). Im sure it looked quite hilarious. I wish I had taken a picture.
We made it to Florida....and ran ourselves ragged with fun-filled days at the beach and Disney World! I have never been to Disney World before....so the fact that I ended up going there a week after Dineyland was pretty crazy!
First off, I have to say the beaches in Florida win hands down over the beaches in Cali! The sand is pure white sugar! Kate looked like one of those sugar dipped dougnuts. I just wanted to eat her up! This time, Kate loved the waves and couldn't get enough of the ocean! She wanted to play in the waves all by herself (with me close by of coarse). She had so much fun with her cousins....laying in the waves and building sand castles.
Then our adventures took us to Disney World for "Mikey's Not So Scary Halloween Party". We decided that we were going to make the girls...and us...Minnie Mouse costumes to wear. So we went to work and spend several delirious nights perfecting the costumes. We discovered that tutus, while adorable on little girls....are definately...NOT...adorable on adult women. Lets just say they add several sizes to your already mother-bearing hips. After laughing ourselves silly, we toned down our tutus and decided on jeans instead of black spandex leggings. Haha! I realize this information will probably not be funny to the majority of you reading it....but just in case you were ever planning to wear a tutu (a real tutu)...Don't. Its not cute. We ended up making more of a toole skirt. The Halloween party was a blast. All the characters were out..in their Halloween costumes, and there was lots of candy for the little trick-or-treaters. They had "dance parties" everywhere and a Halloween firework show and parade. We even got to ride the Haunted Mansion( it was closed in Disneyland). Everyone loved the little girls costumes! They looked adorable. Kate loved wearing her "tu-toot" as she adoringly called it.
Then we returned to DW for another day to see the Animal Kingdom and Epcot! What a blast! After missing our photo-op with the traditional Minnie Mouse the night before, we packed our costumes and after fun time at Animal Kingdom, made a mad dash over to Epcot for our pic with Minne. We had big plans for Epcot.....but with limited time and exhaused, unraveling children.....our night at Epcot didn't exactly turn out the way we had hoped. (long story..if your ever interested..haha...again, probably way more funny to me). Epcot was awesome though! I wish we had been able to spend more time there.
Thanks Annie for the awesome spur of the moment trip!! We had an absolute blast and I haven't laughed that hard in a long time! I love you!!! Here's the comparisons I promised you.....haha
