A Reminder

I just read a very touching post on NieNie Dialogues (Click to link. Its worth reading!) titled A Mother. A journey to become a mother again. A yearning to be the woman she was before the crash...but most of all, to be the mother and wife she was before her life changed so dramatically. It reminded me of the deep joy and fulfillment my soul gets from being a mother. For being able to love, play and teach my child. The ability to comfort her when she is sad, sick or hurt. Truely a gift from God. What a gift to be entrusted with. A mother's love and bond with her children is a fierce and beautiful thing. Everyday I wish I had more time...more time to do laundy, more time to clean, more time to organize, more time for projects. But at the end of the day...the time that is most important, is the time spent simply being a mother. The time I spend loving her and kissing her. I want her to grow up feeling loved and secure. I want her to remember playing with her mommy and the endless kisses and hugs she recieved. I want her to know good morals and have a gentle heart. I want so many things for her. But, most of all, I want her to know she is loved, unconditionally and unequivocally by her mother. I am thankful every day for the blessing she is to me.

A bit of needed cheer

After several beautiful sunny days leading us to believe spring was finally here.... we awoke this morning to SNOW! Snow in March (for me) does not hold the same awe and beauty it does in December. Infact...in rather upsets my good spirits.

So...to remind me of the brighter, sunnier days ahead

The Daffodils have been replenished

and the cupcakes made and frosted (double-chocolate malt-shop cupcakes with a cherry-vanilla buttercream frosting! Made from scratch and garnished with a chocolate malt ball. Yumm-O)

Carrying on the tradition

We enjoyed a great St.Patty's day. Kate played with friends..while mommy made bows with her friends, followed by a yummy Irish feast that night. Technically...Corned beef and cabbage isn't a true Irish dish...but growing up..my mom made it for St. Patrick's Day every year. So I wanted to carry on the tradition and try my hand at making it. The eats went perfectly with the green table and Irish tunes. Kate was as cute as a button all decked out in her green.

The table
The Menu: Corned Beef with a Honey Dijon glaze.....
And cabbage with butter, dill and dijon
and red potatoesThe St. Patty guestsAll dressed in green....So I thought I was ordering a shirt..but it was actually a dress and it looked a little like a muumuu, but she was still adorable!
I had to make her a St. Pattys day bow...I just couldn't resist!
All Smiles today
Playing with her new ball and sand pail from Grandma
Kiss us..We're Irish (ok..maybe not...but Im sure we have a little Irish in there somewhere)

May your day be touched
by a bit of Irish luck,
brightened by a song in your heart,
and warmed by the smiles
of the people you love

Warmth

Thank you sun for sharing your lovely rays. You lift my spirits. I was going stir crazy. Not to mention feeling blue after the last bout of snow. I have missed your warmth on my face. Please come again.

Swimming Lessons

Kate started her first swimming class today. Even though she has been swimming several times...this was her first official class. She wasn't too thrilled with the songs and bouncing in the water. Infact, she spent most of the class with a death grip on me or reaching for Daddy on the side of the pool. Maybe she just wanted to get away from the instructor....she usually loves swimming. Oh well. We'll try again next week.
